Glossary of Project Specific Terms
Generally this is a term for a student that has graduated. For the purpose of this project, Alumni more specifically refers to students that have graduated more than three semesters ago.
At the beginning of 2023, UCF had two main tenants. There were about 400,000 accounts in the @knights.ucf.edu tenant that housed alumni, active and inactive students. The @ucf.edu tenant for staff and faculty had about 12,000 accounts.
The goal of the Student Email Migration Project is to move about 100,000 accounts, which represents all active students. They will be relocated from the @knights.ucf.edu tenant to the @ucf.edu tenant.
By the end of 2023, the @knights.ucf.edu tenant should have about 300,000 accounts and the @ucf.edu tenant should have about 112,000 accounts.
A cloud storage service enabling secure storage, synchronization, and access to files from anywhere similar to Dropbox and Google Drive. It offers ample storage, collaboration features, and integrates with popular productivity tools like Microsoft Office.
“Student Email” was traditionally used to refer to Knights email.
Going forward, “Student Email” and “UCF Email” will be synonymous when referring to the email account used for all official UCF communications for students, staff and faculty.
A distinct and separate group of users who share the same Microsoft Exchange infrastructure, which is the system that UCF uses to manage email services, calendars, and contacts. Each tenant has its own settings, configurations, and security controls, allowing for separate management and customization according to the specific needs of that organization or group of users.
