Absolute Software Management Service – Asset Recovery Tool

DESCRIPTION

This services provides centralized management of UCF’s Absolute Data and Device Security (DDS) service — formerly known as CompuTrace. Absolute DDS is designed to track, manage, and secure mobile computers and devices for better data protection, easier IT asset management, and managed computer theft recovery. Absolute DDS will allow departments to work with ISO to remotely locate stolen computer assets and remotely delete its data. This service uses the TPM  chip integrated into the mobile device from the factory. Not all features are available if the device/hardware asset does not contain the BIOS chip.  The service is strongly recommended for mobile devices that transmit or store highly-restricted or restricted data. 

Getting Started

1. Purchase an Absolute license for each piece of hardware you’d like to be tracked
   1. You have the option of a 3-year or a 5-year license
   2. Contact tpc@ucf.edu for purchasing information
2. Download and install the Absolute DDS Agent on the hardware to be tracked (setup files are found below in the “downloads” section)
3. Open a ServiceNow ticket to have all devices added to your Absolute DDS group.
   1. In ServiceNow, use the “Add Agent” option in the “Absolute CompuTrace Software Asset Management” request.  NOTE: It is acceptable to include multiple systems in one ticket.
4. When a device’s license expires, submit a ticket to the service desk to disable the asset.
   1. In ServiceNow, use the “Remove Agent” option in the “Absolute CompuTrace Software Asset Management” request.
