Enterprise Systems and Operations (ESO) is responsible for managing all server system resources located in the College of Sciences Building (CSB) Data Center and for providing a secure and stable computing environment for the campus. From Identity Management to Server Hosting and System Administration to SharePoint, the ESO unit prides itself in providing enterprise data center services for the university community

ESO Organizational Teams

MICROSOFT SYSTEMS SUPPORT

This team supports our Microsoft server and application infrastructure including the Active Directory domain, SQL Server database clusters, and Site Collections. Some members of this team also provide support for our VMWARE ESX virtualized SharePoint server farms that run primarily Microsoft OSs, but include Linux and Solaris VMs too.

The support team provides a wide scope of internal and external services ranging from software application virtualization to desktop support to security products and Identity Management products.

MICROSOFT PROGRAMMING SUPPORT

This team handles internal software and some application support duties for .NET and SharePoint-based applications ranging from the UCF IT website to self-service reset password tools for our end-users, students and faculty/staff.

DATA CENTER OPERATIONS AND HOSTING

This team handles internal software and some application support duties for .NET and SharePoint-based applications ranging from the UCF IT website to self-service reset password tools for our end-users, students and faculty/staff.

TEST SCORING SERVICES

This office is part of the Enterprise Systems and Operations service unit of UCF IT. We provide free quiz and test scoring services for UCF course instructors, but also process surveys and the Student Perception of Instruction data that is collected at the end of each semester.

DATABASE ADMINISTRATION SUPPORT (DBA)

This team is composed of an extremely skilled and experienced database administration staff that manages the enterprise databases in use in UCF IT (Oracle 10g/11g and SQL/Server). The DBA team manages over 80 Oracle databases and assists in the administration of over 50 SQL/Server databases.

DISTANCE LEARNING

This team provides technical support for all of our enterprise distance learning technologies like Webcourses via Canvas and Panapto, a lecture capture system. The team also maintains and supports the servers and networking for the College of Business Administration lecture capture system.  This team works closely with other departments like COVE, College of Engineering, College of Business Administration, and the Center for Distributed Learning in order to provide excellent service to our 56,000 students and faculty.

PEOPLESOFT TECHNICAL SERVICES SUPPORT

This team provides technical and security application support for all of our Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) products (Campus Solutions, Financials, Portal, CRM) and works closely with the DBA team, UCF IT’s Enterprise Application Development unit, and the UCF IT Support Center. PeopleSoft Technical Services provides application server, web server, software configuration, and security setup services to multiple ERP environments.

LINUX AND STORAGE SUPPORT

This team administers over 425 Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers ranging from large end database servers to servers providing dedicated application support. The team also manages the enterprise backup system (CommVault) that backs up over 1,045 servers each month, with a total backup volume of over 300 terabytes per month. The team also provides support for core enterprise services such as F5 Networks application delivery controllers, ListServ and storage systems used by all server platforms in UCF IT.
