DESCRIPTION

Design, configure, implement and maintain campus core, distributed, and access-layer LAN switches and routers.  Work with campus departments to ensure reliability and performance of networking infrastructure.  Monitor network services, assess utilization, and develop growth recommendations based on ensuring capacity needs, performance, security, and reliability.

FUNCTIONALITY LIST
Provide Cisco certified expertise to design, configure and maintain campus networking equipment and services.  Monitor network resources with specialized monitoring software.  Assess network equipment and security needs for the university.  Maintain Florida Lambda Rail (FLR) network connection.  Monitor Remedy ticket queue to respond to customer service issues.  Support network for IP Telephony services.  Maintain reliable network for critical application servers and services.  Activate campus network switch ports.  Maintain port reliability and security.  Provide after-hours support of campus networking resources.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Provide experienced Cisco certified technical support for networking hardware and software including, but not limited to, the following:  Cisco Routers: 6500 series MSFC modules, 7000 series, 4700 series, 3800 series, 3600 series, 2800 series, 2600 series, 2500 series, 1800 series, and 1600 series.  Cisco Switches: 6500 series, 5000 series, 4948 switches, 4500 series, 4000 series, 3750 switches, 3500 series, 2900 series and ATM LS1010.  Cisco DWDM Switch: ONS 15216.  UPS Hardware: APC SmartUPS series and Liebert GXT2 series.  Network Management System (NMS): CiscoWorks, MRTG, and What’sUp Professional.

INCLUDED SERVICE COMPONENTS – OVERVIEW:
The Campus Network Support service includes the following; design, configure, maintain and administer LAN, WAN, and UPS systems located at the Orlando campus including Research Park, monitor LAN, WAN, and UPS systems through the use of specialized network monitoring software, maintenance of FLR network connection and management of FLR / NLR technical support relationships, ensure access security between network segments and manage Remedy ticket queue in support of Service Desk.

The Campus Network Support service does not include the following Service Catalog offerings; Wireless Network Support, External Campus Network Support, University Affiliate Network Support, IP Address Management, Firewall Services,  DNS Services, ResNet Network Support, Virtual Private Network Services and Project Management and Consulting, all of which are covered separately.

OPTIONAL SERVICE COMPONENTS – OVERVIEW:
Currently, none of the Campus Network Support services produce a cost-recovery solution.  It is recommended that a network maintenance and growth cost-recovery model be implemented.  As an exercise, potential service costs will be included in the Estimated Cost section.
